After running a Penmount touch screen calibration test, it restarts

Models affected: TL7200, TL7400, TL7600, TL8400

The touch screen is either damaged, or the internal hardware is likely defective.

To run an initial check to your integrated touch thin client of whether the repair may be an in-warranty or out-of-warranty repair, check for cuts, faded areas or cracks across the screen, or damage to the system's plastic housing.  Any physical damage voids the system warranty.

How can I troubleshoot my wireless internet / network / system?

There are several possible issues that can be checked:

  • Is internet service working (check with your internet provider)?
  • Is the wireless router working (powered on, ports working)?
  • Is the system within a reasonable distance of the wireless router?
  • Is software configured correctly? (network settings in OS, sw, drivers, router, wireless band [a/b/g/n/ac], passphrase)?
  • Is the wireless card properly connected and working?
  • Is your antenna properly connected (internal or external)?
  • Is the motherboard working properly?

How do I configure my CISCO Switch to properly power my PoE client?


Configure your Cisco switch so that it properly works with Thinlabs Power over Ethernet (PoE) Computers (including, but not limited to,TL2530P, TL2640P, TL7600P, TL8510P, TL8610P models)..

Detailed Instructions

      Command or Action Purpose
    1 enable 

    Example: 
    Switch> enable

    Enables privileged EXEC mode - enter your password if prompted.

     
    2 configure terminal 

    Example: 
    Switch# configure terminal

    Enters global configuration mode.
    3 interface interface-id 

    Example: 
    Switch(config)# interface gigabitethernet2/0/1

    Specifies the physical port to be configured, and enters interface configuration mode.
    4 power inline {auto [max max-wattage] | never |static [max max-wattage]} 

    Example: 
    Switch(config-if)# power inline auto

    Configures the PoE mode on the port.  Keywords and meanings:

    •  

      auto - Enables powered-device detection; if enough power is available, automatically allocates power to the PoE port after device detection (default setting).

    •  

      max max-wattage - limits the power allowed on the port; if no value is specified, the maximum is allowed.

    •  

      max max-wattage - limits the power allowed on the port; range is 4000 to 30000 mW; if no value is specified, the maximum is allowed.

    •  

      never - disables device detection, and disable power to the port.

    Note:

    If a port has a Cisco powered device connected to it, do not use the power inline never command to configure the port. A false link-up can occur, placing the port into the error-disabled state.
    •  

      static - Enables powered-device detection; pre-allocate (reserve) power for a port before the switch discovers the powered device; the switch reserves power for this port even when no device is connected and guarantees that power will be provided upon device detection.

    The switch allocates power to a port configured in static mode before it allocates power to a port configured in auto mode.

    Where is the serial number on my system?

    Serial numbers of Thinlabs All-In-One Systems and Box Modules are 12 digits in length; serial numbers of ADITI Lithium Ion Batteries are 6 digits in length.

    Certification stickers with serial numbers are located on the back of box client modules.

    On integrated thin clients, there is a certification sticker on the back of the system;
    newer models also have a 2nd serial number sticker either on the left side bezel or on the bottom of the bezel.

    If the certification sticker has been destroyed, contact Thinlabs Support.

    What products can I use to clean my touch screen?
    • Turn the device OFF prior to cleaning.
    • Use any standard glass cleaner to clean the touchscreen - AVOID PRODUCTS CONTAINING AMMONIA.
    • DO NOT spray glass cleaner directly on the LCD - it could leak inside a non-sealed unit and cause damage.
    • Spray glass cleaner on a cloth / towel and then clean the touchscreen. A clean microfiber cloth can also be used.

    I can only calibrate the touch screen to 4-point accuracy (Penmount)


    Models affected: TL7200, TL7400, TL7600, TL8400

    Increase the number of points to calibrate the touch screen using the Advanced properties of the touch screen software.

    I get "low memory" or "out of memory" errors on my Windows 7 system

    This may be seen on systems with 2 GB RAM if the paging file is set to Disabled when installing resource-intensive applications. See the how-to document on Windows 7 - Memory Optimization for information on how to correct this error.

    My touch screen doesn't work properly
    • Is the system a touch screen thin client (ie HELIOS, ADITI)?
    • Is the touch screen in working condition, without worn spots, cracks, cuts, etc.?
    • Is the touch screen clean?
    • Are the proper touch screen drivers installed?
    • Does the system have a privacy filter or screen protector installed?
      If Yes, is the privacy filter in working condition, without cuts, worn spots, bubbles, etc.?

    There is no software required to calibrate the touch screen - it is self calibrating.

    How do I find out how much space is left on my DOM / SSD in Windows 7?


    From the desktop, click the Start button and select Computer.
    Windows Explorer will appear with all storage devices listed.
